This year is definitely a transition into the middle school model, with larger class sizes, and more movement throughout the day. Self-advocacy is a huge skill that will carry your child through life, and is one we focus on developing a great deal in 5th grade.

All students should be reading at least 30 minutes a night Audio books are allowed for the 40 Book Challenge because they still help a student build reading comprehension and have the added benefit of modeling how the English language can be read fluently with attention to intonation, speaking rate, and correct enunciation. For that reason, in Briles and Wilder both audio books where a student can read along the best option-MyOn and MacKinvia are examples OR checking out the physical book to read along and in Briles only audio books that are audio only at times of the day where reading a physical text is impossible.

Come, Gather and Celebrate 5th & 6th Class
We hope you have time to relax this weekend and not think about school! Welcome to 5th Grade ! From all of the fifth grade teachers, welcome! We are so excited for the year ahead! We are a team of six of the world's finest educators, and have worked together for quite a few years now ; In addition to being humble and occasionally sarcastic , we strive to work collaboratively, create diverse and rich learning experiences, and foster student independence as they look towards middle school.
Nervous energy is to be expected this time of year, especially before 5th grade As a team, we are pretty easy going and flexible, and accommodate all kinds of needs in our classrooms. Holler if there's anything you need to discuss, but also give your child a few weeks to settle in and acclimate to our "way of life" in the Commons. Most anxieties are cured with a little time. We have high expectations, but also high levels of support and encouragement. This is a great year to practice "taking off the training wheels" so to speak, allowing your child more independence to make their own non-life-threatening mistakes important!

Classes will run as normal next week! Most of these things we eat even today. At present; we eat rice, wheat, pulses, fish, meat and milk. Barley is used barely by us. Ans : In chapter 3; discussion is mainly on rural people. But in this chapter, the discussion is mainly on urban people.
In both the cases; farmers and herders did the same type of work. But their group was much bigger in case of the Harappan cities. Their work could have been more organized; compared to what it was in earlier societies. Farmers and herders in previous chapter mainly produced for their own use. But in case of the Harappan cities; the farmers and herders sold their surplus production.
